Flour is owned by brothers Kyle and Carter James and their longtime friend, Executive Chef Gordon Gibbs. The three first met as students and roommates at Appalachian State University, beginning a friendship that would eventually grow into a shared restaurant vision.

Kyle and Carter bring years of entrepreneurial and restaurant business experience to Flour. Gordon brings more than 14 years of culinary experience, working alongside leading chefs in Los Angeles.

Together, they opened Flour in Asheville’s historic S&W Market in 2024 with a simple idea: pair exceptional bread and baking with creative, deeply satisfying food. Flour quickly became known for Gordon’s big, buttery biscuits, inventive breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Today, the trio also co-owns Easy Tiger, a popular downtown Asheville sports bar and gastropub.

Now at home on Wall Street, Kyle, Carter and Gordon continue building Flour around scratch-made food, genuine hospitality and the friendship that started it all.
